Urban Land Project by Tim Simmons

With the Urban Land Project photographer Tim Simmons brings a little bit of natural environment into Philadelphia and Los Angeles. Murals, billboards and projections are included in this two city installation. The pictures serve as a gentle reminder, to the people who are used to their urban environment, that there's a lot of beauty out there. Goal is to make the viewer aware of his relation with nature. Love this new magazine Plant Journal from the same people of Apartamento magazine. Just like this last one it's full of amazing pictures and very well designed. From Staghorn to Eichhorn , from city gardens to farm life, from dry prairie landscapes to blossoming fruit trees. Can't get enough :)

Harmony by Charles, Prince of Wales.

"Everything is connected. If someone is left out of the circle, you're not going to have Harmony".

In this beautiful documentary we follow some of the projects of Prince Charles of Wales. With heart and soul he tries to save our planet. His love of nature makes him genuinely concerned about some of todays ecologic problems we're facing. He spends his time developing different projects in order to find sustainable solutions and alternatives to today's mass consumption. His philosophy, vision and comprehension of the deeper problems really amazed me. I never thought of him this way, but this really made me like him. He is usually very introvert, but talking about these things makes him open up to all of us, I really sympathized with him.

 Next week I will make my terrace spring ready and plant my homegrown tomatoes and zucchinis! These pictures of 'The Girl Who Married The Bear' inspire me. I really feel like having my own garden now!

Green Inspirations: rooftop farming on Eagle Street

The perfect prove that a city girl can live green and grow her own vegetables.
This is exactly what I would love to see more. Because a conscious way of living, stepping away from mass consumption and instant gratification is not only for hippies anymore.
She even has her own bees! It's a known fact that honey produced in cities have a richer flavor. The bees take honey from the flowers they find. In a city that's in parks and flower shops, where the variety is bigger. I wonder how Annie's homemade honey tastes.. :)

Green inspiration: Corazon De Raeymaecker

I already introduced Corazon on Ü, but she has to be on Coco Green too :) As a Belgian Model Corazon moved to New York for a while. Living in the city she was introduced to a community farm right outside the city centre called Winfall Farms. She learned that she really loved living and working on a farm and was particulary interested in the city farm concept. She now wants to start a simular project here in Antwerp. The whole idea is to start a farm outside the city, where people from the city can come to buy their vegetables. You pay one amount a season and for that money you can come and fill your basket once a week. Ofcourse there's much more to it. Not only do you know where your vegetables come from and that they were grown in a proper manner, you also become part of a community of people that want to step away from the mass consumption way of growing vegetables. I can't wait for Corazon to start with her farm!
