Hackney city farm

Pictures I took with a disposable camera when in London at the Hackney City Farm. This farm was established in 1984 by locals who wanted youngsters and the local community to experience farming. It is still supported by volunteers and their goal is to seed, nurture and harvest from the city and perform a metabolic function.

plant journal

Love this new magazine Plant Journal from the same people of Apartamento magazine. Just like this last one it's full of amazing pictures and very well designed. From Staghorn to Eichhorn , from city gardens to farm life, from dry prairie landscapes to blossoming fruit trees. Can't get enough :)

Green roofs for a healthy Antwerp

I'm very proud to announce that my hometown Antwerp just decided to make Green roofs obligatory for all flat roofs. Everyone who starts renovating their flat roof is obliged to make it a green roof.
This doesn't mean they have to create a whole garden, althought that's what I would do, just the basic of wild plants is enough. There is more then just an ecological benefit to this, it's also interesting on a financial level. Green roofs have shown that they protect and isolate the building and on top of that the roof doesn't wear out so easily. It's a win, win.. Keep an eye on this blog, because COCO GREEN will soon be starting some city gardening and landscaping projects! This new legislation only opens more doors to a conscious, green way of being a city girl! love it :)

My favorite Antwerp Green roof, the one at RA, including a mystical, small mountain <3

Noordermarkt

My friend Sophie of Sunken Treasure took this beautiful pics at the saturday BIO market on the Noordermarkt in Amsterdam. Everything looks so delicious. Wish we had more of these markets in Antwerp.
